1500 Kazakhstan nationals are now in the United Kingdom that experiencing the strongest flood of the past two centuries, Tengrinews reports citing the Kazakhstan Foreign Ministry. There is no information on whether any of the Kazakhstan nationals have become victims of the flood in Great Britain. No Kazakh citizens have applied to the Kazakhstan Embassy in London for help so far. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs together with the Industry and Tourism Committee of the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies of Kazakhstan have called Kazakhstan nationals traveling abroad to be very careful and avoid visiting the flooded regions. The flood in Great Britain covered the counties of Berkshire, Hampshire, Surrey, Somerset, Devon, a large part of Wales and some regions in London. At least three people were killed in separate incidents in Ireland, Britain and the English Channel after violent winds and heavy rain swept in from the Atlantic. About 8 thousand houses are flooded and more than thousand people were evacuated, AFP writes. Pulling down power lines and disrupting transport networks across the region, the storm brought fresh misery to flood-hit communities in Britain, parts of which are suffering their wettest start to the year for 250 years. More than 3,000 members of the military are involved in the flood relief effort, according to the defense ministry, as the government seeks to counter criticism that it was too slow to respond to the crisis. Fourteen severe flood alerts warning of a risk to life were in place along the River Thames, with another two issued for the southwest of England, which has borne the brunt of two months of heavy rain.
