Almaty among Top 100 liveable cities: Economist Intelligence Unit

Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) rated 140 cities by livability, Tengrinews reports citing Herald Sun.

The cities were ranked based on “stability, healthcare, culture and environment, education and infrastructure”.

Almaty landed on the 100th place of the rating earning 65.3 points out of 100. The City of Apples earned 77 points for stability, 66.7 for healthcare, 57.6 for culture and environment, 66.7 for education and 60.7 for infrastructure.

Melbourne topped the EIU rating for the fifth year in a row with 97.5 points. Vienna followed with 97.4 points. The beauty of the West Coast Vancouver took the third place with 96.6 points. The rating's top ten included another Canadian city Calgary, Sydney, Perth, Auckland and Helsinki.

The top less livable cities are Damascus (29.3), Dhaka (38.7), Port Moresby (38.9), Lagos (39.7), Tripoli (40), Karachi (40.9), Algiers (40.9), Harare (42.6), Kiev (43.4), Douala (44) and Teheran (47.2).

Other post-soviet cities in the rating are St. Petersburg (74.1) landed on the 77th place, Moscow (72.8) on the 81st place and Tashkent (54.6 points) on the 166th place.
