Daniel Jacobs, the WBA World middleweight champion, has given a press conference after the successful defence of his title against Sergio Mora, Tengrinews reports.
Jacobs talked about the fight with Mora and future goals. The American boxer stressed that although he wanted to have bigger fights there was so much politics in boxing and he could not control it. "When you say Triple G is WBA Super and you are regular champion, why don't you fight him? I can't control that. It is politics. If I had an opportunity to fight Triple G I am all for it," Jacobs said.
"He is doing what he is supposed to do. You can’t be criticizing the guy who is getting in there and doing what he is supposed to do. You can say all you want to say about his opposition but he has been winning. I can’t say anything bad about him. Do I wish I could fight him? Absolutely. But I feel like a guy like Triple G is like a Mortal Kombat boxer. He is like Scorpion. So I am trying to get through the rest of the guys gradually," Jacobs added.
Gennady Golovkin of Kazakhstan is fighting IBF champion David Lemieux on October 17 at Madison Square Garden.
