Almaty cannot buy out special fire-fighting equipment for elimination of fires in tall buildings that is currently stalled in the warehouses in Finland untill the final tranche is made. The reasons behind the delay is lack of money, Tengrinews.kz reports citing Almaty administration's press-service. “The situation with supply of special fire-fighting equipment for elimination of emergency situations in tall buildings is critical. The financial crisis cause several construction companies to suspend financing of their shares in purchase of the 100-m skylift that costs 377 million tenge ($2.6 million),” Almaty Akim (Mayor) Akhmetzhan Yessimov said at the government meeting on Almaty development. According to the Mayor, an advance payment of 167 million tenge ($1.1 million) has ben made. The foreign party has manufactured the skylift and is currently preparing to initiate a case to claim the remaining money in court and impose penalties for the delay in payment. In this relation, Yessimov asked to allocate the remaining 210 million tenge ($1.5 million) from the state budget.
