Kazakhstan's smallest woman has set a record and become a master of sports in powerlifting at the National Paralympic Spartakiad, Express K reports. Marina Melnikova lifted 40kg while her body weight is 32kg. She is an Almaty citizen and a leader of the Paralympic Movement of Zhetysu region. The athlete lives in Kapchagay Medical and Social Institute for Elderly and Disabled People and she trains regularly. Marina is a member of a sports club for disabled people. "The nature deprived me of height, but gave me good physical abilities instead. That is why I chose difficult sports in track and field athletics first: shot putting and discus and javelin throwing. Several years ago I got into powerlifting and now I have achieved a master's degree in the sports. And this is just a beginning!" Marina said.
