Patients from the Persian Gulf will come to Kazakhstan for treatment with stem cells, Tengrinews.kz reports citing Coordinator of the international project in Kazakhstan National Scientific Medical Center M.D. Daniyar Zhumaniyazov. “Patients from the US, Arab countries and China have the most interest,” he said. Patients from the US followed by patients from the Persian Gulf will come to Kazakhstan for treatment in June. After that representatives of Chinese Public Health Ministry are expected to arrive to check the safety and correspondence of the clinic to international standards. “There will be no patients from Europe yet, as there has been no work done in this direction,” Zhumaniyazov said. Two new projects are currently under way in the Center. The budget is being estimated and marketing research is being performed right now. The details of the projects are not disclosed yet. Doctors of Kazakhstan National Scientific Medical Center are expecting that patients from the US and other countries will come to be treated by Kazakhstan doctors in the new laboratory of stem cells in Astana. The US laws allow treatment of only 35 patients a year with stem cells. There are no such limitations in Kazakhstan yet, that is why patients from different countries are welcome in the Center. Former Public Health Minister of Kazakhstan Zhaksylyk Doskaliyev was one of the initiators of the research into the area of stem cells use in treatment of serious diseases in Kazakhstan.
