There is a huge deficit of firefighting depots in Kazakhstan, Minister of Emergency Situations Vladimir Bozhko keeps saying. He raised this issue in the Senate today, Tengrinews.kz reports. As per Bozhko, the required number of fire depots for Astana is 20 (while there are only 10 of them now) and 26 for Almaty (versus 13 of them nowadays). “Dear all, we are feeling the lack of depots every time a fire happens somethwere,” Vladimir Bozhko said desperately. He also noted than in 2010-2011 Kazakhstan spent over $34 million on humanitarian aid to Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Mongolia, Moldova, Pakistan and Japan. “Life safety provisions is a problematic issue that has to be worked out by all ministries and authorities,” the Minister said twice. After the sitting Bozhko told the journalists that he obtained support from the deputies.
