Temporary charge d'affaires of the USA in Kazakhstan John Ordway gave an interview to Tengrinews.kz. The diplomat expressed his regrets about the case of Kirill Denyakin who was shot in the USA. He also talked about the measures taken by the embassy. Kirill,26, from Kazakhstan worked as a hotel cook for two years in Portsmouth. He was shot near his friend's house by a US policeman on April 23. Kirill was unarmed, but the policeman made 11 shots killing him on the spot. “This is for sure a tragedy and we were very sorry to find out about what happened. The embassy was trying to do everything possible to establish communication as soon as possible and get Kirill's mother to the United States,” said John Ordway. He said that authorities of Virginia state are investigating into Kazakhstan citizen's death but did not give any details. Ordway said that the investigation results will be made public. “This is a local issue and the investigation responsibility is on the state or the city and, as far as I know, the investigation is already in process. When it is over, the results will be made available to public and the family will be able to review them,” he said. American diplomat assured that any person with violated rights may count on the USA justice. "American judicial system is always open and if people want to initiate a case or something like that, it is always possible. The decision will be made by the court,” Ordway said. Asked about 11 shots, the diplomat replied with a diplomatic prevarication: “This is the question I can not reply to and not the question that lies within my expertise and knowledge. This is the issue to be resolved in the course of the investigation.” "The thing is that every law-enforcement system, every jurisdiction has its own rules and requirements. It is not easy to trace them. We have 50 states and a lot of cities. The authorities of each city decide on rules and procedures. Investigations usually show whether the ones accused have followed the set rules,” John Ordway said speaking about nuances of American legislation. By Maksim Popov
