Kazakhstan Temir Zholy plans to increase its railroad-related manufacturing 30-fold by 2015, Tengrinews.kz reports from the meeting of the presidium of Kazakhstan’s National Economic Chamber Soyuz Atameken. “We developed a program to increase local content in 2009. In the course of implementation of this program production volumes of Kazakhstan railroad manufacturing increased compared to 2008. In 2008 the railroad manufacturing was totally worth 10 billion tenge ($66.7 million) and in 2012 it made 155 billion tenge ($1 billion). That means that we increased the output of Kazakhstan railroad manufacturing sector 15-fold during these years. We have set a goal to take it to 300 billion tenge ($2 billion) by 2015, which would be a 30-fold growth compared to 2008,” head of Kazakhstan Temir Zholy Askar Mamin said. He also said that, according to the company’s forecasts, almost a half of what the its manufactures in Kazakhstan’s railroad sector will be exported by 2015 and not only to the Customs Union countries.
