Experts of European-Mediterranean Seismological Center made a map of earth shocks registered in Almaty area, Tengrinews.kz reports. As per the experts, all quakes were recorded to the north-east of Almaty. Epicenters of two of the shocks were below Kapchagai artificial lake. Their magnitude was 4.9 and 4.7. Two other shocks were registered close to the lake (4.0 and 4.2 in magnitude). Epicenters of three other shocks that were more than 4.0-magnitude were to the north of Malovodnoye village. Several buildings were heavily damaged there. Magnitude of two other shocks was around 3.0. The strongest 5.4-magnitude quake hit on May 1 at 08:31 a.m. and had several aftershocks. Kazakhstan Emergency Situations Ministry does not preclude more shocks in Almaty but they will be weaker. Deputy head of Almaty Emergency Situations Department Yuriy Ilin said that a 7-magnitude quake is not expected in Almaty in 2011 and called Almaty citizens not to panic.
