The wood caught fire in the morning of September 1. The fire covered the area of 100 hectares. No casualties were reported.
The fire quenching operation involved 7 people and 1 vehicle of the fire-fighting team of Almaty Oblast Emergency Situations Department, 60 employees of Turgen Leskhoz, 10 people and 1 helicopter from KazAviaLesoOkhrana.
The fire spread from Issyk-Kul oblast of Kyrgyzstan. According to the press-service of Kyrgyzstan Emergency Situations Ministry, forest and grass caught fire on August 31 at Soldatskiy mountain range. The fire covered around 50 hectares of dry grass and 5 hectares of forest by September 1. The situation is complicated by the fact that the use of the special ground vehicles is impossible in the mountains.
