Tengrinews.kz — Reconstruction of the airport is continuing in Pavlodar. More than 9 billion tenge has been additionally allocated to upgrade the runway.

The funding was allocated from the Special State Fund, which is formed from assets previously returned to the state by prosecution authorities.

According to the Main Transport Prosecutor’s Office, the reconstruction is planned to be completed in September 2026.

“On the instructions of the Prosecutor General, the Main Transport Prosecutor inspected the progress of the reconstruction of the runway at Pavlodar airport. More than 9 billion tenge from the Special State Fund, formed from illegally acquired assets returned by prosecution authorities, has been allocated for the project. Construction and installation work is proceeding according to schedule,” the agency said.

After the reconstruction is completed, the airport will be able to serve more passengers. Its capacity is expected to increase from the current 200 to 300 people per hour.

“The contractor, the customer and technical supervision have been instructed to ensure the timely and high-quality completion of the work, strict compliance with labor protection requirements and environmental legislation, as well as the lawful and effective use of the allocated public funds. The infrastructure upgrade will improve transport accessibility in Pavlodar region and strengthen the region’s connection with other cities in the country,” the prosecutor’s office said.

The project is reportedly under special supervision by prosecution authorities.

It was previously reported that the cost of construction and installation work and equipment amounted to 16.4 billion tenge.

As a reminder, reconstruction of the runway was initially planned to begin in 2024 and be completed in December 2025. It was later reported that commissioning is scheduled for August 2026.
