Russia is starting the shipment of the The Sukhoi Su-30, Flanker C fighter aircrafts to Kazakhstan, Tengrinews reports citing RIA Novosti.

Kazakhstan announced acquiring the twin-engine and two-seat supermaneuverable Flanker Cs back in February to recapitalize the country’s air forces. In Rio de Janeiro, during the International Defense and Security Exhibition the head of the Irkut Corporation delegation Viktor Lichaev talked about the shipment of four Su-30 SM fighters to Kazakhstan.

“The shipment has virtually started. Two fighters have been shipped and two are on their way. These aircrafts will participate in the parade in Kazakhstani this year,”Lichaev said referring to the 70th Anniversary of Victory Day parade.

Lichaev noted that this was one more step towards the development of cooperation between Russian and Kazakhstan in military aviation. According to the Russian corporation, Kazakhstan plans to increase the number of purchased fighter aircrafts in the future.

The Su-30 SM is based on the legendary SU-27. The Flanker sports the integrated aerodynamic configuration and thrust vectoring control ability. This gives the fighter high manoeuvrability along with unique takeoff and landing characteristics. Equipped with a digital fly-by-wire system, the Flanker performs highly advanced manoeuvres that include the Pugachev's Cobra and the tailslide.

The Kazakhstan Air Defense Forces (KADF), according to ISH Jane’s 360, has “MiG-27 'Flogger', Su-25 'Frogfoot', MiG-31 'Foxhound', Su-27 'Flanker', and MiG-29 'Fulcrum' aircraft, all inherited from the Soviet Union in the early 1990s”. Kazakhstan’s Air Defense Forces has recently acquired some Western aircrafts including EC145, Bell UH-1 Huey II helicopters and Airbus C295 transport aircraft.
