The day before the parade, on September 2, Nursultan Nazarbayev congratulated the Chinese people on the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the war against militarist Japan. He delivered a lecture at the Central Party School of the Chinese Communist Party, stressing the fact that the WWII had ended in China.
"It is hard to overestimate the contribution of China to the victory in the World War II. Steadfastness and dedication shown by the Chinese people are the greatest examples of heroism and courage, valor and patriotism. In Kazakhstan also, more than 25 percent of the population were mobilized for the bloodiest war of the XX century. Many of them did not return home from the battlefields. There are those among them who rest in the soil of China," he said during the visit to the School.
The Kazakh President noted that many Kazakhstanis were mobilized to fight against the Kwangtung Army. Moreover, Kazakhstan provided foodstuffs for the war effort. He thanked the Chinese people for commemorating the fallen soldiers from Kazakhstan on the Memorial of the soldiers killed in the battles for the liberation of Chinese cities.
