Unemployment in Astana is becoming younger: Tasmagambetov

Imangali Tasmagambetov tagged unemployment in Astana a pressing problem, Tengrinews.kz reports. “Unemployment is one of the vital problems of our city. I can say that unemployment is getting younger. There are 8 thousand young people among the total of 14 thousand registered unemployed citizens: this is 50 percent of the overall amount,” Astana Akim (Mayor) said at the meeting with the citizens on February 9. According to Imangali Tasmagambetov, job fairs for young people are held in Astana since last year. “The first fair is held in the end of May and is aimed for employment of the school graduates who are not planning to continue their education. The second fair is held in August, when graduates of colleges and universities start looking for jobs. Thus, we have covered over 10 thousand people, over 4 thousand of them received job placements and around 2 thousand people were employed,” Astana Akim said. “The city is highly interested in involvement of the people in economic process, as our main goal right now is to build the system of professional orientation, re-training experts and employment,” Imangali Tasmagambetov said.
