Only 50 percent of Astana hotels correspond to declared level of service

Only 50 percent of hotels in Astana correspond to the service level they declare, KazTAG reports citing head of Astana Department of Tourism, Physical Culture and Sport Aitalap Kurgambayev. "163 hotels were inspected in Astana. We can say now that 50 percent of hotels in the capital look good, as we gave them instructions and gave readiness certificates during the OSCE summit and Asian Winter Games,” Kurgambayev said on the sidelines of Astana Leisure-2011 exhibition. Other hotels do not comply with the declared level by some parameters. “In general, even Moscow has the same situation with hotels. Quality depends on the cost there. That means that if the tourist wants to live for $20 or $10 a day, he gets the quality that corresponds to the price,” he added. Kurgambayev reminded that according to the entrepreneurship legislation, city administration does not have a right to directly interfere in the activities of the hotels. City administration make recommendations on the hotels' work and develops standards. "If a hotel complies with the standards by services quality, it gets Astana administration's quality label,” he said.
