Kazakhstan's housing construction growth made over 20 percent in 2012, Tengrinews.kz reports citing Kazakhstan Minister of Economic Development and Trade Bakytzhan Sagintayev as saying at the Industrial Forum in Astana. "The growth of housing construction has made 20.8 percent, which means it is reviving. Investments into construction made 134 billion tenge ($912 million). 2.4 million square meters of housing have been constructed," Sagintayev said at the Forum. He noted that despite of the uncertainty in the global economy and at the external markets, a positive growth of Kazakhstan's economy had been ensured. "According to preliminary evaluations, the country's GDP growth rate made 5.6 percent. Starting from the beginning of the year, the actual revenues of the people have grown 12.8 percent and the actual wages have increased by 11.5 percent. Inflation in January-June made 2.7 percent versus 5.1 percent last year," Minister said. He stated that capital investments had gone almost 6 percent up since the beginning of the year. The Minister of Economic Development and Trade also noted that import grew 30 percent and expert went 18.4 percent up. A positive trade balance made $17.4 billion. "Kazakhstan's international reserves, including the funds of the National Fund, have increased by $12.9 billion since the beginning of the year and made $89.5 billion. The state budget revenues made 2.7 trillion tenge ($18.4 billion) with a raise of 25.5 percent, while the expenses made 2.4 trillion tenge ($16.3 billion) having grown 19.5 percent," Sagintayev said. Sagintayev also informed the President on the positive dynamics in the industrial sector and the financial market and told about the course of implementation of the State Program of Accelerated Industrial-Innovative Development, Business Roadmap-2020, Affordable Housing-2020, Ak Bulak programs and Single-Industry Towns Development program. Besides, the Minister reported on the support to agriculture, improvement of business climate, as well as development of rural areas. Quasi-public sector had been optimized in Kazakhstan: 136 companies were being transferred to the competitive environment, 64 would be liquidated and 137 companies were being reorganized, he said. He also noted that, according to international experts, escalation of the debt crisis in Europe may cause a slowdown in the global economy and, thus, a decrease of the global oil and metal prices and instability at the financial markets. Sagintayev said that an anti-crisis plan was ready for such case. "All the measures are foreseen to minimize the impact of the possible crisis on the country's economy. Our objective is to avoid negative scenarios of economic development and maintain social stability," the Minister said. By Aidana Ussupova
