Kazakhstan Ministry of Transport and Communications is working on implementation of mobile payments, Tengrinews.kz reports citing Kazakhstan Minister of Transport and Coomunications Askar Zhumagaliyev. “Mobile payments have to be made possible via phones. This is the next step in th development of the electronic government. It will allow to unleash the big potential we have. Cellular coverage is currently 155 percent in Kazakhstan, i.e. almost everyone has mobile phones. That’s why it is just wrong to not use this potential for the electronic government and payments. The Ministry is preparing the documents the would make the use of this potential possible in the nearest time,” the Minister said at the government meeting in the Majilis (Lower Chamber of the Parliament). Zhumagaliyev noted that the mobile payments would create a good competition to terminals that currently have a commission fee on payments. By Renat Tashkinbayev
