Kazakhstan oil refineries may be suspended because of a deficit of oil products storage tanks, an economist of the Institute of Political Solutions Sergey Smirnov told Kapital.kz. According to the expert, excessive amounts of petrol were accumulated in the refineries’ storages in 2013. The reserves of AI-92 petrol made 220 thousand tons and the stock of AI-80 petrol made 65 thousand tons. Export of light oil products from Kazakhstan is banned but managers of the refineries have applied to the government with a request to permit export of the excessive petrol. Kazakhstan Oil and Gas Minister Sauat Mynbayev earlier said that Kazakhstan might allow export of AI-80 petrol. “We believe it is possible to allow the export. We will make a suggestion about a limited amount of AI-80 petrol in the nearest time,” the Minister said at the government meeting.
