As of October 18, Kazakhstan has thrashed 27.8 million tons of grain (98.3% of the area under crops), the country’s Agriculture Ministry reported. According to the Ministry, “average yield stands at 17.5 metric centners per hectare”. According to Kazakhstan’s Agriculture Ministry, grain harvest (net weight) is estimated at 22-23 million tons. Export potential stands at 10 million tons. Starting from November Kazakhstan will boost grain exports to 1-1.2 million tons a month. According to the Agriculture Ministry stats, Kazakhstan exported 5.9 million tons of grain in the 2010-2011 marketing year. This figure included grain equivalent of exported flour (2.5 million tons). The grain was traditionally exported to Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan. According to the Government’s web-site, grain harvest in 2010 totaled 12.2 million tons (net weight). Grain harvest of 2009 made up 22.7 million tons (bunker weight).
