Import of Georgian wines and mineral water can not be banned in Kazakhstan, Tengrinews.kz reports citing director of KazAlco association Amirzhan Kaliyev. As per Kaliyev, Georgian goods are in great demand in Kazakhstan and are famous for their high quality. He also said that import of Georgian wines to Kazakhstan does not contradict the rules of the Customs Union, as it was noted by the Russian party. “In my view, the issue of banning Georgian goods should be resolved by making it very clear that Kazakhstan has no intent of re-exporting these wines to Russia and Belarus. Moreover, our country is on the second place by import of Georgian goods (after Urkaine). This proves that Kazakhstan manufacturers can not produce alcohol of a similar quality yet,” said Kaliyev. Earlier chief sanitary doctor of Russia Gennadiy Onischenko said that Kazakhstan and Belarus should ban sales of Georgian wines and mineral water as this is stipulated in the Customs Union rules.
