Government of Kazakhstan and Hungary have expressed their support to establishing direct flights between Astana and Budapest, Tengrinews reports citing the Ministry of Transport and Communications.

“Hungarian airline companies expressed their intention to open regular Budapest-Astana flights. During the Kazakhstani-Hungarian meeting of the intergovernmental commission in Budapest, the parties encouraged opening of the direct flights between the two capitals. Aviation representatives of both countries will conduct negotiation in the nearest future,” the Ministry reported.

“We welcome the suggestion concerning the new (Budapest-Astana) flight. We are planning to conduct a meeting with our Hungarian colleagues to discuss the intergovernmental agreement on air services between our countries,” Talgat Lastayev of the Kazakhstan Civil Aviation Committee said.

Earlier, Prime Minister Karim Massimov arrived to Hungary on an official visit. The ceremony of opening the Abai monument dedicated to Kazakhstan’s greatest poet Abai Kunanbayev took place during Massimov’s visit. The monument is situated on Astana street in Budapest.
