Tengrinews.kz – A tourist who visited 94 countries, Lola Mendez, named several ways to help save money while traveling. Her advice was published by Business Insider.

"I've spent years traveling to 94 countries which has taught me some great money-saving travel tips. Here are four ways I save money when I travel to another country," she wrote.

Firstly, she writes that you should exchange currency profitably. According to her, she does not take cash with her unless there are difficulties with access to ATMs at her destination. Converting money before a trip is usually more expensive than withdrawing local currency in the country, Mendez believes. She uses a bank card with no international fees and a refund on cash withdrawal fees.

Secondly, the traveler recommends finding free activities. She noted that many countries have many such entertainments for tourists.

"Check local publications to see what free events are happening during your visit. Some libraries have movie screenings, museums often have days with free admission, and accommodations may come with complimentary yoga or dance classes," she explained.

Mendez herself uses websites that offer free tours around the world. She has gone on excursions in Turkey, Tunisia, Jordan, Egypt, Estonia, and Uruguay.

Thirdly, she advises traveling only with hand luggage, so that, for example, she can save a lot of money.

"Paying extra for a checked bag can add up quickly - especially if you're visiting multiple destinations on your trip. And with just a carry-on, you can limit your spending by having limited space to pack souvenirs," she noted.

According to her, you should check the size and weight restrictions for carry-on baggage. Some budget airlines allow up to 7 kilograms of baggage, but sometimes you can increase this limit for a small fee.

If you need more space, you can choose airlines that allow you to check in your first suitcase for free.

Fourthly, the woman recommends using tax refunds for foreigners.

"Many countries offer travelers a tax rebate for select purchases made with a foreign credit card. In Thailand, for example, certain purchases over 2,000 baht are eligible for a tax rebate," she explained.

For example, in Thailand, you can apply for this procedure for certain purchases.

"Keep in mind that some countries may require you to show purchased goods to an agent at the local airport," the woman added.

Mendez believes these four simple tips will help reduce costs and make travel more affordable.

Earlier, a traveler from Germany, Luca Pferdmenges, who visited 190 countries named the most dangerous. Luca spoke about the countries where his life was in real danger and recalled shocking moments: from shootouts and robberies to encounters with gangsters - risk became part of his exciting journey.
