A specialized relief fund for victims will be opened in Kazakhstan, Tengrinews reports citing BNews.kz.
Amirkhan Amanbayev of the Prosecutor General’s Office talked about creating the specialized fund during a meeting with journalists in the beginning of January.
“As you may know, many of those who commit crimes flee abroad. It takes a lot of time to find them. In the meantime, the damage done to the victims has not been repaid. That is why, similar funds are created world wide. In over 20 countries in Europe, Asia and in the USA similar funds have been created to help victims of crimes. These funds are called victim relief funds,” Amanbayev said.
The fund needs a legal framework to operate in, so the officials are now considering creating the required draft bill.
