Tengrinews.kz – The Ministry of Internal Affairs warned Kazakhstanis about the responsibility for participating in military actions abroad in order to receive monetary compensation, according to Polisia.kz.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs noted that advertisements and videos with an offer to conclude a contract with the armed forces of other states for monetary compensation began to spread on social networks.
"The Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan provides for criminal liability measures for participation in armed conflicts. (...) The Ministry of Internal Affairs strongly recommends that citizens comply with the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan and refrain from participating in actions that may lead to serious legal consequences," the information says.
It is indicated that a Kazakhstani citizen will be liable to imprisonment for a term of 5 to 9 years for intentional illegal participation in an armed conflict or military actions on the territory of a foreign state in the absence of signs of mercenarism.
"For mercenarism, depending on the severity of the act, the punishment is imprisonment for a term of 7 years or life imprisonment with or without deprivation of citizenship of the Republic of Kazakhstan, with confiscation of property," the statement says.
