Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev has signed a law on countering money laundering and financing terrorism, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the President's press-service.
"The President has signed the Law On amendments to certain legislative acts of Kazakhstan on countering legalization (laundering) of illegally earned money, financing terrorism and encashment," Kazakhstan President's website writes. The law will be published in the official media.
In March 2012 deputy Prosecutor General Iogan Merkel declared that punishment for terrorism would be toughened in Kazakhstan. He noted that a draft of the new Criminal Code will be submitted to the Parliament of Kazakhstan for discussion in the first quarter of 2013.
