Senator Orynbai Rakhmanberdiyev has called foreign diplomatic missions to consider Astana’s architectural features when constructing their buildings, Tengrinews.kz reports. “Astana is becoming more and more beautiful every day. The building of Azerbaijan Embassy will be located in the area of the Presidential Park. The Embassy’s architecture has blend into our city, but some countries do not consider host city architecture when designing their embassy’s buildings and sometimes make the embassies look like barracks. Are the architectural regulations being considered?” Kazakhstan Senator Rakhmanberdiyev addressed deputy Foreign Minister Kairat Sarybai who presented the draft law On ratification of the Agreement between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan on mutual provision of lands for construction of buildings of diplomatic representative offices. “This is an important question. Governments planning to build their representative offices in our country should consider the special features of the country they are in. If Kazakhstan builds its embassy in Baku, we will, construct it in line with the regulations of Azerbaijan. And of course, we have a full right to recommend that Azerbaijan’s embassy is constructed in line with regulations of our country. We can also recommend that they consider special features of Astana during construction of their buildings,” Sarybai said. According to the draft law, Azerbaijan will lease out a 0.5-hectare land lot in Khatinsk region of Baku to Kazakhstan for 49 years at the cost of 1 manat a year. “According to my colleagues, the land has a view on the Caspian Sea and is located in a prestigious region of Baku,” deputy Foreign Minister said. Kazakhstan party will, in its turn, provide Azerbaijan with a 0.5-hectare land lot in the area of the Presidential Park in Astana, also for 49 years at the cost of 1 tenge per year.
