Kazakhstan embassies all over the world will be reporting to Kazakhstan Ministry of Industry and New Technologies on attracted investments, Tengrinews.kz reports from a meeting of Kazakhstan Senate (Upper Chamber of the Parliament). “We have identified the key foreign countries that are the main sources of investments by analyzing all global investments flows. 20 countries are on our priority list that we want to focus on these years. Along with the Foreign Ministry we have developed Roadmaps for all these 20 countries. We are working with each embassy. Each of these countries has its blue-chip companies and strong sides where the have achieved the most success. Our goal is to attract these companies and technologies from these countries. We have developed a list of investments indicators for each of these countries and their companies that we want to attract and have chosen the persons to be put in charge of this work. It is for the first time in the history of Kazakhstan that ambassadors are responsible for investment indicators,” deputy Prime-Minister and Minister of Industry and New Technologies Asset Issekeshev told the senators of Kazakhstan. He said that the first stage includes 136 companies that are considered the world leaders in different industries. “They are the ones who define which technologies and products will be used in the world and, general speaking, they are the ones who defined who will work on the market. Our task is to attract them here, because they will bring not only money, but also new companies, management and new skills,” Issekeshev said and noted that Siemens is one of such companies. “Every ambassador, minister, governor and mayor has target indicators to meet in terms of attraction of investments. We have never done this before. We hope that this year this system will make everyone work more responsibly. Besides, we have created regional service centers for investors, staffed with English-speaking experts who will work to support the investors. We want to help the investors in everything, from getting visas to trips to the regions,” the Minister said. According to Issekeshev, a great significance is attached to creation of a positive image for Kazakhstanin the world. “If you turn on any international channel, you can see that all countries, e.g. Azerbaijan, are running advertisement spots about their countries every half an hour. This is very expensive, but everyone understands that the advertisement of the country is a must. That is why we are doing this as well. Last year we were running a 30-second spot on investment opportunities in Kazakhstan and over 300 million people all over the world watched it on the leading TV channels. After that we saw a surge of interest to Kazakhstan,” he said.
