Kazakhstan will prolong fuel export ban, KazTAG reports citing Kazakhstan Oil and Gas Minister Sauat Mynbayev. “It will be prolonged,” he said, without defining the period it will be prolonged for. In June official media published the Kazakhstan Government's decree banning fuel export until the end of 2011. Ministry of Economic Development and Trade was instructed to notify Customs Union member-countries on the ban and “submit an offer on implementation of measures stated in clause 1 of this decree for consideration of the Customs Union Commission”. The decree came into effect on July 1, 2011. Fuel export ban was introduced “because of a necessity to prevent oil products shortage at the local market, proviside diesel fuel for harvesting campaign and suspend Pavlodar refinery for an overhaul”.
