Tengrinews.kz – President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has called on the government to carefully study concerns raised by the business community about the implementation of several provisions in Kazakhstan’s new Tax Code.

Speaking at the ceremony honoring the winners of the “Altyn Sapa,” “Paryz,” and “Best Goods of Kazakhstan” awards, Tokayev noted that entrepreneurs have been actively voicing their objections.

“At the same time, business is reaching out to me regarding the implementation of certain norms of the new Tax Code. The essence of these concerns is well known — they are being published by the media. The government will analyze them thoroughly and, I believe, find a reasonable balance. Essentially, there is no other option. This is a task of nationwide importance,” the President said.

Tokayev stressed that improving tax administration should be a priority going forward.

“Solving this issue through digital tools will help address many questions that concern entrepreneurs. It is also important to take into account that next year Kazakhstan will introduce the registry of domestic producers and the national goods catalog. These innovations should help eliminate problems, including cases where some companies receive unjustified advantages in public procurement,” he noted.

He added that the government, together with the Atameken chamber, must ensure the smooth introduction of the new norms by the end of 2025 without harming the business sector.

During the event, Tokayev also announced the creation of a new state award — the Meiyrim order — and reiterated that ensuring sustainable economic growth remains one of the government’s key objectives.

Earlier, Tokayev signed the new Tax Code, which will raise VAT from 12% to 16% and lower the VAT registration threshold to 39.3 million tenge. The updated legislation will come into force on January 1, 2026.
