Brazill will be not be able to provide the promised visa-free enrty for Kazakhstanis for the upcoming FIFA World Cup, Tengrinews reports.
Alexey Kushnerev, assistant to the Ambassador of Brazil explained the reason why.
“Yes, indeed Kazakhstan has finished all the procedures required for the abolition of the Brazilian visa requirement. Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan and Brazil signed the agreement, but there are still some documents that have to be examined in the Brazilian parliament and adopted after that. The process has been dragged on because the required documents have not been ratified yet. Moreover, the agreement can come in force only after 90 days from the day the parliament ratifies the documents,” Kushnerev said.
So for Kazakhstanis who want to travel to see the World Cup in Brazil this summer a visa application is still a required procedure. But the embassy promised that the process will be simpler and faster for the applicant who present tickets purchased from the official FIFA website.
The temporary visa-free agreement with Brazil was singed on October 2nd, 2013. On January 8th 2014, Kazakhstan completed all the intrastate prosecutes to abolish the need for Brasilian visa. But the Kazakhstan Ministry is still waiting for a response from the Brazilian Ministry.
The World Cup will take place from 12th June to 13th July 2014 in Brazil. The opening match will be held in San Paolo and the final will take place on the Estádio do Maracanã in Rio de Janeiro.
