Tengrinews.kz — Speaking at the 5th session of the National Kurultai in Kyzylorda, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev commented on cases of bride kidnapping in Kazakhstan.

“Bride kidnapping is the abduction of a human being. It is a crude and barbaric crime that damages the reputation of our nation. Such brutality must not be tolerated under any circumstances. Public awareness is growing year by year, and the level of civic responsibility is increasing,” the President said.

Tokayev stressed that legislation must also reflect these principles.

“Law and order are the same for everyone, and every citizen of our country is obliged to strictly comply with the law,” he added.

The fifth session of the National Kurultai is currently underway in Kyzylorda, having been announced on January 12. As previously stated by Presidential Assistant and Press Secretary Ruslan Zheldibay, President Tokayev is expected to deliver a speech outlining the key directions of Kazakhstan’s future development and addressing pressing social issues.
