"The mask regime is not planned to be introduced. It will be mandatory only for medical workers in medical institutions, and for the rest - recommended. Despite the fact that the incidence rate has fallen eight times, the decree is aimed for epidemic prevention", - commented the Deputy Minister.

It was also added that there have been no severe cases of COVID-19 reported in the country since the beginning of the year.

"Our task is to prepare the healthcare system and emergency services for a potential worsening of the epidemiological situation," he said.

Earlier, the Ministry of Healthcare made a statement about the COVID-19 situation in Kazakhstan. According to the department, there have been 1,290 cases of coronavirus infection reported since the beginning of the year. In most cases, the illness is mild.
