Tengrinews.kz - Passengers in Kazakhstan have been voicing frustration over frequent train delays, particularly on routes arriving in Almaty.
Passengers reported that some trains were several hours behind schedule, causing major inconvenience for travelers with connecting transport or important appointments.
The Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ) website also displays multiple delay notices. For example, Train No. 6985 from Altynkol to Almaty-1 was listed as running approximately two hours late.
On the same day, Train No. 102 traveling from Astana Nurly Zhol to Almaty-2 was delayed by at least 45 minutes.
The KTZ press service explained the situation:
“The main causes of train delays during the summer are scheduled maintenance works, which are essential to ensure safety and reliability across the KTZ rail network,” the company said.
They added that unexpected incidents, such as road accidents at railway crossings or train-pedestrian collisions, can also affect the timetable.
KTZ emphasized that minimizing delays remains a priority, and efforts are being made to restore normal service as quickly as possible.
Previously, passengers complained about the Almaty–Kostanay train, reporting that the air conditioning in the train cars wasn't working.
