Tengrinews.kz - Why is the unemployment rate in Kazakhstan lower than in Finland and France? Aziz Ibragimov, Director of the Employment Department at the Ministry of Labor, addressed this question.
According to official data, Kazakhstan’s unemployment rate is below 5%. During a briefing at the Central Communications Service, journalists asked why the unemployment rate exceeds 8% in Finland and France while standing at 4.6% in Kazakhstan.
"Do government agencies in those countries perform worse, or do we calculate unemployment differently?" one journalist inquired.
Ibragimov explained that Kazakhstan's unemployment statistics are compiled by the Bureau of National Statistics through selective surveys.
"It’s important to distinguish between registered and unregistered unemployment. Registered unemployment includes individuals who officially apply for assistance, whereas unregistered unemployment refers to those not accounted for in the system. The reported figures depend on the methodology used in each country," he stated.
Earlier, the Ministry of Labor announced that Kazakhstan’s job market will require 1.6 million workers over the next six years. Read more about the most in-demand professions here.
