Tengrinews.kz - Chairman of the Telecommunications Committee under the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry, Damir Seisembekov, spoke about the work to equip Kazakhstan trains with wireless Internet.
He recalled that the project was launched at the beginning of this year.
"According to Kazakhstan Railways, there are about 16 routes in Kazakhstan on which Talgo trains operate. Technically, today only these trains are capable of distributing the Internet inside; accordingly, it is impossible to implement this system on the old, Soviet-era (trains - ed.). Therefore, we are currently working on this issue with Kazakhstan Railways and outlining plans to provide full-fledged Internet on all 16 routes. Today, this is only Astana-Almaty. We are conducting (negotiations - ed.) with them so that this does not affect the cost of tickets," Seisembekov said at a briefing in the government.
According to the chairman of the committee, the Internet has been launched only on one train on the Astana-Almaty route. He could not name the exact dates for the introduction of the Internet on trains on other routes.
