Tengrinews.kz – Preparations are underway in the Almaty region for the ceremonial launch of construction work on Kazakhstan's nuclear power plant (NPP) project.
The NPP will be built near the village of Ulken. Before the event, journalists were shown a model of the future power plant.

During the official ceremony, there will be formal speeches and a symbolic start to the project: drilling rigs will take the first soil samples. A capsule containing the samples will be handed over to the Russian side for further research.
Earlier, the head of the Atomic Energy Agency, Almasadam Satkaliyev, stated that the construction of the country's first nuclear power plant may take around seven years.
