Weather to delight Kazakhstanis ahead of the New Year

Tengrinews.kz — Kazhydromet forecasters have issued a weather forecast for 27, 28, and 29 December.

Snow to cover Kazakhstan

With the passage of atmospheric fronts, the following weather is expected:

on 27 December in the east of the country;
on 27–29 December in the west;
on 29 December in the northwest, north, and central regions;
there will be snow, blizzards, icy conditions, and strengthening winds, and in the southern regions precipitation (rain and snow) is forecast.

“Heavy snow is expected on 27 December in the east and southeast, and on 28 December in the west of the country. Fog is expected across the republic,” the forecasters said.

Warm weather to return to Kazakhstan

According to the forecast, air temperatures across Kazakhstan are expected to rise:

in the northwest, north, and central regions: at night to about -10…-18°C, during the day to about 0…-8°C;
in the east: at night to about -15…-20°C, during the day to about -5…-10°C;
in the southern regions: at night to about 0…+5°C, in the mountains -5…-10°C;
during the day to about +5…+15°C, in the mountains -4…+1°C.

Winter in Kazakhstan

This year, the first day of winter was precipitation-free in most regions of Kazakhstan. The country experienced anomalous weather: there was not only no snow cover, but also no sign of snowfall. According to forecasters, if such weather patterns continue, winters with rare snow - or even without it - may become the norm for Kazakhstan.
