Tengrinews.kz - The National Security Committee (NSC) has released an update on efforts to seize illegal weapons.
Since the beginning of 2025, the NSC, in cooperation with the police and the prosecutor's office, has confiscated the following illegal weapons: 12 automatic rifles, 41 pistols, 75 shotguns, 36 grenades, and 1,603 rounds of various calibers.
"A significant portion of these weapons was stolen during the January events (since 2022, the NSC has seized a total of 608 firearms lost during the crisis period). This has mitigated the risk of these weapons falling into destructive environments and being used against the interests of society and the state," the NSC press service stated.
The NSC also reported cases of illegal arms smuggling into Kazakhstan.

"The NSC has intercepted a weapons smuggling channel from a neighboring country, detaining a foreign national who intended to sell dozens of firearms within Kazakhstan. The weapons were concealed in the car’s interior lining and smuggled with the assistance of accomplices among Kazakhstani citizens," the statement reads.

Earlier, the Border Service of the NSC held 3,216 violators of Kazakhstani law accountable in the border area, in cooperation with other competent authorities.
