Tengrinews.kz - A video has spread on social media showing dogs tearing apart a large predatory cat. The Ministry of Ecology has commented on the video.
In the video, barking dogs and the voices of people speaking Kazakh, encouraging the dogs to attack, can be heard.
"Regarding the poaching of a Persian leopard, we report the following: the video material was carefully studied by employees of the Forestry and Wildlife Committee. The analysis showed that the video contains signs of editing (the sound overlay of dogs being trained and the leopard does not match real conditions). It is impossible to hear the appropriate sounds of the animal and dogs, and the location shown in the video has no relation to the Mangystau region," the Forestry and Wildlife Committee reported.
The agency noted that the animals presumably depicted in the video predominantly inhabit the low mountains of the Irano-Afghan Plateau and Turkmenistan.
"We request that this information be considered when assessing the video's authenticity and refrain from spreading unverified information that may mislead the public," the Committee added.
