Tengrinews.kz – Since the beginning of the year, 11 Kazakhstan citizens have been convicted for inciting ethnic and religious hatred, according to the Astana Prosecutor’s Office.
For example, a resident of the capital went live on the social network TikTok, using obscene language and expressing offensive opinions about people of another nationality, thereby provoking ethnic conflict.
"State prosecutors fully proved the guilt of the defendants; all of them were sentenced to various terms of imprisonment. The court rulings against the 11 individuals have entered into legal force," the Astana Prosecutor’s Office reported.
The prosecutor's office urges citizens not to fall for provocations, to refrain from words and actions that could incite hostility between people of different nationalities and religions, and reminds that inciting social, national, tribal, racial, class, or religious hatred is a criminal offense punishable by up to 20 years in prison.
