Tengrinews.kz - A passenger train narrowly avoided a collision with a bus that drove onto the tracks in the Zhambyl region, according to Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ).

The incident occurred on June 7 at an unguarded, regulated railway crossing between Koragatty and Tatti on the Taraz-Shu section. According to the railway operator, the train driver had to perform an emergency stop after spotting the bus on the tracks.

“The bus driver fled the scene. Information about the incident has been forwarded to law enforcement agencies. Thanks to the alertness and professionalism of the locomotive crew, a potential tragedy was averted,” KTZ said in a statement.

A similar incident had taken place the day before. On the same Taraz-Shu line, trailers loaded with cargo detached from a tractor and ended up on the railway tracks. The train driver again applied emergency braking, managing to stop the train just two meters from the trailers. The trailers were quickly removed, and the train resumed its route.

KTZ reminded the public about the importance of following safety rules at railway crossings, emphasizing that railroads are high-risk areas and violations can lead to serious consequences.

JSC "Passenger Transportation" had previously reported, on May 27, that a baby girl had been born aboard the Astana-Zhezkazgan passenger train.
