Tengrinews.kz - President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has inspected the new terminal at Shymkent International Airport, according to Akorda’s press service.
The facility was built as part of the President’s directive to support the city’s development. The new air hub, valued at 24 billion tenge, was constructed using private investment.
According to officials, the creation of a unique aviation hub in southern Kazakhstan will increase the number of routes from the region from 17 to 59, including flights to key destinations in Europe and Asia.
Earlier today, President Tokayev arrived in Shymkent as part of a working visit aimed at reviewing the city’s socio-economic progress.
The new terminal officially opened on December 25 of last year. It is expected to boost connectivity with neighboring countries as well as with destinations such as France, Germany, China, India, Pakistan, Egypt, Vietnam, and South Korea.
