Tengrinews.kz – President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev participated in a flag-raising ceremony dedicated to Republic Day, according to Akorda.
The head of the Honor Guard Company gave a report to the President, after which the national flag was raised, and the national anthem was played.

In his speech at the ceremony, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized that the day of adopting the declaration of state sovereignty of Kazakhstan marks the beginning of sacred Independence.

This solemn event officially marked the start of the Republic Day celebrations. The flag-raising ceremony will take place in all regions of Kazakhstan.

October 25 is a national holiday in Kazakhstan – Republic Day. Its history dates back to 1990, when the Supreme Council of the Kazakh SSR adopted the Declaration of State Sovereignty. This declaration asserted the republic’s sovereignty and established the political and legal foundations for Kazakhstan as an independent state.
Five years later, in 1995, Republic Day was declared a national holiday, and in 2001, it became a public holiday. In 2009, it was removed from the list of official holidays. In 2022, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev proposed reinstating Republic Day as a national holiday.
