In the telegram addressed to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Tokayev expressed his deep condolences over the numerous human casualties resulting from the crash of a passenger plane near the airport of Ahmedabad.

"The President of Kazakhstan conveyed words of support to the families of the victims and wished a speedy recovery to those injured in the air disaster," the Akorda statement said.

On June 12, a Boeing 787 Dreamliner operated by Air India, en route from Ahmedabad to London, crashed shortly after takeoff.

According to media reports, the aircraft crashed into a dormitory for doctors near the airport. Before the crash, the Boeing issued a Mayday distress signal. The captain had 8,200 flight hours, and the co-pilot had 1,100.
