Tengrinews.kz — President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a meeting with World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, according to Akorda.
During the conversation, the current state and prospects of cooperation between Kazakhstan and the WHO were discussed.
The Head of State said that cooperation with the organization has reached a qualitatively new stage and expressed gratitude to the WHO for its consistent support of Kazakhstan’s global initiatives.
The participants in the meeting discussed issues related to conducting joint research in the field of climate and health, promoting digital transformation initiatives, and introducing artificial intelligence into the healthcare system.
Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus thanked Kassym-Jomart Tokayev for the invitation to take part in the Regional Environmental Summit.
The WHO chief noted Kazakhstan’s economic progress and the successful political reforms made possible by the adoption of the new Constitution.
According to him, the WHO welcomes Astana’s efforts aimed at ensuring environmental and water security at both the regional and international levels.
At the end of the meeting, the Director-General handed the President a letter confirming that Kazakhstan has been assigned WHO Maturity Level 3 in the regulation of medicines, which means recognition of the reliability of the national oversight system.
Kazakhstan became the first country in the CIS and the fourth in the WHO European Region to achieve this level.
