Tengrinews.kz - President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, held a meeting with President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, in Moscow, according to the Akorda press service.
"Welcoming the high guest, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev recalled the contribution of our country to the Great Victory. He said that 1.2 million people were mobilized from Kazakhstan to the front, half of whom heroically died," the statement reads.
The Head of State also emphasized that Kazakhstan considers Venezuela an important partner.
At the same time, he noted that due to objective reasons, significant progress in bilateral cooperation has not yet been achieved.
"In this context, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev invited Nicolas Maduro to pay a state visit to Kazakhstan to discuss prospects for strengthening mutual ties," the press service said.
In turn, the President of Venezuela said he was pleased to have the opportunity to discuss ways of further cooperation. He also described the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Victory as an event of global significance.

According to him, the people who were part of the Soviet Union played a key role in achieving Victory.
"During the discussion of prospects for expanding trade and economic cooperation, special attention was paid to the energy sector. Following the meeting, the parties agreed to prepare and exchange lists of priority export products in order to identify specific areas for growth between the two countries," the statement said.
Earlier, on May 8, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev arrived in Russia at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin to take part in events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory. The Kazakh President was scheduled to hold a number of meetings with heads of foreign states while in Moscow.
