President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever discussed the current state and prospects of Kazakh-Belgian cooperation, focusing on strengthening political dialogue and developing trade, economic, and investment ties.
President Tokayev called Belgium one of Kazakhstan's key partners in the European Union.
According to the President, the momentum of economic engagement demonstrates potential for further growth. Belgium is among the top ten investors in Kazakhstan's economy, with total direct investment reaching $15 billion over the past twenty years.

Mutual trade also maintains a steady upward trend, exceeding $580 million last year.
"More than 110 companies with Belgian capital are successfully operating in Kazakhstan, reflecting our shared commitment to strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation. Many renowned Belgian companies are expanding their presence in our country," Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized.
Prime Minister Bart De Wever noted the high level of political dialogue between the two nations.

He expressed Belgium's interest in further deepening bilateral relations and expanding the strategic partnership.
"The parties explored opportunities for joint investment projects in transport and logistics, critical minerals, petrochemistry, agriculture, manufacturing, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and finance. They also discussed prospects for cooperation in science and education, including developing partnerships between universities, research centers, and technology companies," the Akorda press service noted.
Taking the opportunity, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev conveyed his greetings to King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of the Belgians.
The President noted that he attaches exceptional importance to King Philippe's upcoming state visit to Kazakhstan this year, which will be the first in the history of bilateral relations.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev also invited Bart De Wever to pay an official visit to Kazakhstan at his convenience. The invitation was gratefully accepted.
The sides also discussed pressing issues on the regional and international agendas.
As a reminder, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev arrived in Brussels for an official visit on June 22. The President of Kazakhstan held an informal meeting with the President of the European Council, António Costa.

Additionally, on the previous day, President Tokayev met with Kazakh citizens currently studying or working in Belgium. The compatriots shared their professional and academic achievements, as well as their plans for the future.
