Tengrinews.kz – President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a meeting with Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever on the sidelines of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, according to the press service of Akorda.
The Head of State noted that Kazakhstan places great importance on the development of long-term cooperation with Belgium, one of its key partners in the European Union.
Tokayev emphasized that Brussels ranks among the top ten largest investors in Kazakhstan, with bilateral trade reaching nearly half a billion dollars last year.
During the conversation, both sides acknowledged the potential for further expanding economic relations, particularly in the fields of critical minerals, petrochemicals, agriculture, industry, transport and logistics, artificial intelligence, finance, tourism, and education.
Bart De Wever expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to discuss bilateral issues and conveyed King Philippe’s best wishes to the President of Kazakhstan.

President Tokayev also held talks in New York with President of Finland Alexander Stubb. The two leaders discussed bilateral and international matters.
Tokayev stressed that a productive political dialogue at the highest level plays a vital role in achieving positive outcomes in bilateral relations.
In this regard, he expressed confidence that the upcoming visit of the Finnish President to Kazakhstan would further unlock the potential for trade, investment, and humanitarian cooperation between the two nations.
Special attention during the meeting was given to the discussion of the current global geopolitical situation.
