Tengrinews.kz - President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has sent a telegram of condolences to the President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, according to the press service of Akorda.

President Tokayev expressed deep sorrow over the loss of life and injuries caused by a massive fire at the Kartalkaya ski resort in Bolu province.

"On behalf of the people of Kazakhstan and personally, the President conveyed his heartfelt condolences to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the families of the victims, and the entire brotherly Turkish nation. He also wished a speedy recovery to all those injured," the statement from Akorda reads.

The fire broke out at the popular Kartalkaya ski resort in Turkey’s Bolu province during the night of January 21. As of now, the death toll has risen to 76, with 51 others injured, including one person in intensive care.

In response to the tragedy, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan declared a one-day national mourning on January 22. On Wednesday, state flags across the country and at foreign diplomatic missions were lowered to half-mast.
